Question:

What is the origin of the term "Tidbits" in culinary history?

Today we often use this term to describe scraps or cheap, small things.

But I suspect that in the history of food there is more to it than that.

So I am wondering when and where the word came from, and what did (or does) it mean?

Thanks!

  1. Tiddlers small fish.

Abbreviated to tiddley bits, in Yorkshire, that's my take.
