  1. A camel spin, is  known in Europe as a parallel spin.

Most sources credit the invention of the camel spin to British skater Cecilia Colledge, who first performed it in 1935. The camel was originally considered a move for women only.

According to figure skating coach Gustave Lussi, the camel spin was invented not by Colledge but by an Australian skater named Campbell, and is properly known as the Campbell spin.

    Hope this answer was enlightning!

  2. One hump or two humps?

  3. I can't find the reference right now, but I know it's out there on the internet. It's something to do with when they first invented this move, they didn't make a straight line across with their body, they sort of pushed their buttocks up and leaned down with both leg and torso, so that their butt looked like the hump of a camel. I don't think it was meant to be a flattering term.

  4. According to this link, when the camel was first invented, skaters often had their head and free leg below the hips, causing a "hump" with their rears!!!  So this "mistake" was eventually got that spin to be named "camel".
