What is the origin of the word "pike" when used in diving and cheerleading?

Is it named after the weapon or something? Here's pictures of the pike dive and the pike jump:

I could be wrong, but it might be named after the fish. I'm not a diving expert or anything, but i'm taking an educated guess.

Fish=water

Diving=water

Get my point???

pike can be mean point but its wen u lift ur legs up 2 ur head

I am a diver and a pick could also mean a point. And when u do the jump or the divve ur body kinda comes to a point. also it could mean a fish.
