  3. Soil consists of many different things of animal, vegetable and mineral forms. The mineral parts also have many kinds of substances so that the rocks are no longer the same as when they first stood, but have chemically changed into sand and other fine particles.

    The fact that these rocks were of different kinds make it difficult to directly answer, some of them were based on calcium and some on silicon based chemicals with plenty of carbon and oxygen being part of their composition.

  4. Soil is made from the decaay and break down of organic material like trees, leaves and other vegetation.  When bedrock is eroded the material is called sediment.  Where it coems from (bedrock) is called the parent material.
