I have 100 ft of unisulated pipe with 400 F steam entering the piping. The pipe is 3 inches in diameter and operates at 150 psi. The pipe thickness is 0.216 inches. Assuming ambient temperature to be 90 F. It is a carbon steel pipe. What is the temperature of the steam at the end of the pipe? Take into account the heat losses.

  1. It seems to me that 100' of pipe will dissipate a lot of heat. The steam temperature at the end will be the saturated steam temperature for 150 psi. Look at your steam table.
