What is the pH of the urine of a person who has hemoglobinuria?

I have looked everywhere, and can't seem to find the answer.

  1. theoretically, what i can come up are these. frankly I dont know the exact answer, you weigh the facts

    1. most proteins are negatively charged in nature this would take up the H+ in urine making it less acidic

    2. hemoglobinuria would require RBC lysis in blood as well as impaired glomerular filtration. the lysis of RBC in blood would release lactate, pyruvate and lots of H+. This could result in acidosis. and if your patient is still alive, then he/she is excreting the H+ in urine which would make it acidic.

    personally I think point 2 would justify an acidic urine

  3. the range for pH in the urine is 5.0-8.5...

    even the urines with 3+ blood run around 6.5 to 7.0 most of the time.  the pH of blood is normally around 7.0
