  1. The USGA guidelines are very lenient for tournament play. The adage is " Keep up with the group in front of you, not ahead of the group behind you." So if you are keeping up, whether walking or in a cart, the pace should be 2hrs. on the front and 2 hrs. on the back a total of 4 hours.  Just try to beat that, which will give you more time to " Chit Chat" afterwards.

  2. You really need to take into consideration the amount of beer you will be drinking.

  3. Too Slow!!! PLEASE, decide what your going to do FASTER. If your in a cart, go to your ball with more than one club in your hand. Don't make multiple trips. Don't take 5 practice swings. As a matter of fact don't take ANY practice swings on the course. Why would you want to practice a swing that almost never works well to start with. Don't think you can pull off shots that you KNOW, deep down inside, you don't have. Do these things, and you, and your teammates will have more fun. The down side to this is you will become one of the many, like myself, who can shoot a 75 in 2hours and 20 minutes, IF YA'LL FOLKS IN FRONT OF US  WOULD JUST GO!!!

  4. USGA pace of play standards are that you complete the round in 4 hours, 15 min.  In the tournaments I have played in with the same standards they usually give you a 15 min grace period.  If you finish in over 4 hours, 30 min, as long as you are right behind the group in front of you, you will not be penalized, but if you are more than a hole behind, they usually give a 2 stroke penalty.

  5. Every course ive played has had different pace times.  The clubhouse should have it posted or be able to tell you.  An average par 72 course will be AROUND 4 hrs.  which is about 13 minutes per hole
