Well as with most careers in the medical field it really depends on your demographic and experience.  There is always a demand for both however, if your area is saturated with say schools that graduate 30+ RT's per class per year, jobs may be a little more hard to find.  However the same would hold true for Nursing.  

As far as pay goes it really all depends on where you are and how long you have been doing it.  With nursing it depends on what kind of nurse you are.  The pay may fluxuate depending on if you an OR nurse, floor nurse, ER nurse, Radiology Nurse....ect.  With RT's, you would have to change modalities say to CT, MRI, US ect. to notice an immediate pay increase.  I hope this helps.
