I am currently studying to be a teacher in a teaching Masters degree program and would like to teach in an international school or American international school when I graduate. I'm curious as to how the pay at these types of schools compares to the pay in, say, public schools in a place like New York City or in its outlying suburban areas.

Also, is there a reason why so many international schools teach at a school for only a few years and then move along to another school? Is it because of the pay or job security or lack thereof?

Thanks!

  1. I dont know about New York schools, but in International schools, a teacher gets housing, airfare back home every summer, medical etc. If the currency exchange value to the dollar or euro is good in that country then you can save quite a bit. Teachers move on every three years just for the fun of experiencing a new culture.

  2. In Canada, with a Masters in Education, you start somewhere between 45 - 50,000 dollars.
