If probation, does that mean you can't leave the state?

  1. chances are you'll get a fine and some community service, assuming the amount was small.

If you are granted probation, you can leave the state but you will have to notify and get permission from your probation officer first.

  2. Not long enough.

  3. The actual charge would be petit theft. As a first time offender, you will get restitution to the store, a fine, probation for a relatively short time ( a year or so) and possibly community service.

Probation will restrict a lot of your movement and you cannot leave the state unless you ask and get prior permission from your PO, but regardless of the sanctions imposed, being "free" and living at home is FAR better than sitting in a jail cell and staring at the wall.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you
