What is the penalty for riding a motorcycle without a Class M License in Chicago, Illinois?

I have a motorcycle instruction permit and Class D License. I'm also more than half way through the MSF Course. I just want to ride around my residential neighborhood, but mainly in an open and empty parking lot with my own cones set up for practice before my test in 2 days. The only problem is that I do not have anyone with a Class M License (over one year) to supervise me while I'm practicing in the parking lot. And of course I will just practice during the day time. Also, I do not have motorcycle insurance at the moment. Thanks.

  1. ticket and tow

  2. Just do it and if you get caught tell them that you "misinterpreted the rules"

  3. Best to go at nite when the cops are asleep.

  4. Best don't do it. If your caught one penalty will be higher insurance for several years.

  5. Same as driving a car without a license. Depending on the officer it could be as little as a ticket and as severe as being arrested.

  6. Ticket for driving without a valid drives license.

Points on your license - raising your insurance - even auto ins.

Your bike can be towed away and impounded.

VERY serious if driving without insurance - registration will be revoked (in other words - turn in your plates) & no insurance company will insure you.

ANY accident, whether your fault or the fault of a drunk driver - you are liable and can be sued.

This all for riding on public roads.

If riding in a parking lot - can be as little as telling you to get lost, to impounding your bike for riding on private property.
