The shyster will take as much as he can get away with, and then add in a lot of "expenses" to raise the amount beyond even that.  He might take it all.  Lawyers are scum.

Typically, a third of the settlement. But that doesnt include the charges for physical therapy the lawyer undoubtedly sent you to.

As much as you're willing to sign away; however, it's usually about 1/3. If they want more than that, find another lawyer.

As much as you are willing to agree to. It's purely a contract matter.

In general, contingency agreements usually call for the fee to increase as the case progresses....  30% if the case is settled before a suit is filed..... 35% if it settled pretrial...... 40% if a judgment is obtained at trial.... 50% if the judgment has to be upheld at appeal, etc.
