  1. Ammonia is a poisonous gas, that your body eliminates through the kidneys. It is an irritant to mucous membranes because of its caustic, alkaline nature

    I found no reference to adding it to water, just removing it. It is extremely soluble, but can be boiled off.

    You do need to replace salts into your body after exercise or at very high temperatures. Are you sure that it is ammonia that you are referring to?
