I'm looking to buy a laptop, but i'm not sure what to get. I'm wanting a laptop that is going to be quick, and reliable for the studio, and guitar software i would have to install on the computer. I'm also looking to record my music. If anyone could help me with this i would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

  1. alot of musicians i know love the macbook pro... i prefer alienware. most laptops over $1200 are going to be good for that kind of stuff

  2. I had limited success with my G4 Powerbook, but only due to the fact that I was already using it for day to day use.  I'm also a musician and am going to get a Powerbook Pro.  For creative people, macs are the way to go.  In fact, most Digital Interfaces and recording software despite originally being made for PC's and the MS platform, are finding that they must release a mac version to compete.

That being said, despite ProTools and Cubase being the biggies, I'm likely going to rely on Logic to do my recording.  If you're a singer songwriter and only planning on guitar and voice, the Logic studio (lite version) and an iMac might do the trick. Additionally, you'll need some other things if you're recording with an acoustic guitar.

    Hope that helps.

  3. If you are going to do a lot of music editing and  sound recording

you need one with at least 2gb memory and a dual core cpu the fastest you can afford also a 300 to 500 gb hard drive as music files can be very large also have the hard drive partitioned so you can save your music files  to the 2nd or 3rd partition and not lose them if you have to reinstall windows
