What is the perfect size for my turtle tank if my turtles are 1inch and 2inch?

  1. At that size you could make due with a 5 gallon tank with no worries. The larger the tank, the harder it is to clean it. Make sure you have an area in the tank where they both could be completely out of the water if they want to and another where they can be completely submerged if they want to be.


  2. Um. Snapping turtles don't have orange dots on their neck. Probably Red eared sliders. You might want to get a better idea of what you have. (either post a pic or take it to a local pet store that ~specializes~ in reptiles).

    You want at LEAST 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell, so in your case you want at LEAST a 30 gallon tank. Don't forget UV lighting, basking area, heat lamp, and perhaps even a water heater, and a filter... if you're going to use a regular fish tank filter you'll want it to be rated for at least a 60 gallon tank (twice the water volume you have in your tank... turtles make more waste than fish) and make sure it doesn't suck your turtles in... otherwise, bigger tank, bigger filter...
