Well my family is thinking about getting a bird or two sometime soon. We want the bird to be the medium sized, twice the size of a Canary. It cannot bite or be aggressive. It cannot squak or make annoying noises. We have already looked into getting a Conure but we found out that they are aggresive and noisy. Please help me find out what bird we sould get, have any suggestions?

  1. If you have to ask a silly question like this YOU dont know anything about birds SO give it up.A bird is a living creature & deserves the best in life

  2. parrotlets; they are usually 4-5 inch. popular type pacific parrotlets. They can not scream and the most noise they will make is a medium chirp. They do not need attention all the time like cockatoos. You can go to school or work without worrying they may get depressed as long as they have plenty of toys they are HAPPY! they will strongly bond with the person they spend more time with during 6-12weeks or age. They have the personality of an amazon but much smaller. Get a handtame one they make wonderful pets and should be kept by itself. It doesnt need a companion

  3. ~ I'm thinking you don't sound ready for any bird.  You have to many demands of what you don't want and birds can not be shamed into not doing something like a dog can.  All birds have potential of being aggressive, especially if you get a female and it starts nesting.  All birds can be noisy, especially if they want something, get bored or are stressed.  You can't just stick it in a cage and tell it to be quiet and behave.  This is the exact kind of situation that should not have a bird because it is not ideal for the bird at all.  I think you should do some more research before you put yourself in a situation of looking for a new home for it because it is bothering your family.

  4. some birds are just noisier , i have two quakers , one is quiet and one is noisy, but if you get a bird sometimes they attach like a mate , our 12 yr old quaker is attached to me like i'm her mate, yet we've only had her since she is 9, i'm the only one who can handle her. Quakers can talk quite well, they are a parrot but not very big at all.

Birds are like little kids, they have minds of there owns and some will like certain people , some are quiet or noisy, no matter what species it depends on the birds personality .

  5. a parakeet

  6. All birds make vocalizations to some degree, you cant not get a bird that wont vocalize.

That being said, a good bird thats usually on the quieter end of things as well as really docile is a dove.  They come in many varities with diamond doves being one of the most popular.  They are one of the smaller species of dove.  Ringnecks are also very common.

Doves coo but the males can sometimes get a little more vocal about the cooing than the females.  They're also really docile and easy to tame.  Me and a friend of mine kept doves and you could cuddle with those things practically.

  7. all birds will squark at sumtime BUT   i own a princess parrot and it is so much quieter then all my 10 bugies but together.  he talks and he squarks but in nice tunes  he only shouts when i take him from the budgie cage  he really luvs em

and he is very affectionet and has never bit  anyone  even guests get him on their hands  he is a green one ( i dont know if maybe the colour might change its attitude )

    theyare the best birds :)

    hope i helped

i luv him and he is very affectionett but you have to spend alot of time with him ( 10+ mins a day )

    good luck

  8. Guess it cannot p**p or throw seeds anywhere either.  Don't get a bird.  They all make noise and all have the capability of biting it is an animal after all and can get scared or irritated by loud noises or even the way you or a family member handle them.  Even parrotlets get loud I know because I have one.  They can also be aggressive even a supposedly hand tame one mine has been a terror since the minute I got him.  I have to handle him with a washcloth wrapped around him or he will bite like mad.  And let me tell you little beaks hurt just as much if not more than big ones.  Demon was named correctly.  If he latches on to you he WONT LET GO!!

You have way to many Cannots to have a bird sorry to say.

  9. All birds make noise, and most are aggressive at first. But you should look into a cockatiel. They are very easily trained and not AS loud as a conure. You're right though, conures are extremely noisy.

  10. Look into getting a cockatiel but any bird still makes a fair share of noise. What about a budgie?
