  1. what is the world but another word? I take language as a means of communication. Whatever else it does for our human community, it does by way of our shared consent. We sing best the songs we've practiced together longest. I do enjoy jazz from time to time, though those conversations take a special breed. I don't imagine any empiricists or positivists enjoying the spontaneous musings of poetic call and response. Or at least I don't imagine them taking such games as being as close to truth as language can take us.

  2. ...communication, nice to know what the other guy is thinking...

...if i didn't he would steal my girlfriend...or wife...

  3. Philosophy is not about having an opinion, about being born "with a voice" and expressing opinions.

Philosophy is the epistemic identification of metaphysical existents, and the hierarchical ordering of those existents. Yes, everyone's mind does it automatically.

But is it better to do it automatically and not study the process; or is it better to study the process and understand why you belive what you believe--and how to fix what is wrong about what you believe according to the rules of logic?

  4. Because most animals communicate amongst themselves........

  5. They want to be heard. That's all.
