  1. they build muscle!!!

  2. I carried a 30 lb backpack for three years. My back was fine, but my twin sister's wasn't. I think for out-of-shape teenagers, it could cause all kinds of unnatural strain on the lower back and twisting with it on... out of the question. Throw your back out in a second. Her chiropractor said she should hike it all the way up on her back if she could, but you woudn't be caught dead with it anywhere but the lowest place possible on your back. Then, in college... the rolling backpacks came in. Yay!

  3. They will eventually break our spine and we can all sue!

  4. children might get a slightly hunched back, because they tend to lean over because of the heavy backpack.

  5. Your back get strained, i know because i used to put alot of books in my pack bag and image i was in middle school and having horrible back pains. I then got a rolling packbag but at that time i guess it was too nerdy, people kept kicking it. so i prefered the back pain.

  6. i remember when i was in elementary school i had a big heavy backpack

it hurt my shoulder so bad i had to go to the doc's

also because i was compensating for my shoulder i was walking funny and hurting my my back

it was a hassle to deal with i remember that

i found some info for you on the internet

** the first link talks about the seriousness of it

** the second link talks about a study that says it's not as bad as we thought
