A short answer might get a point. Early migrants were possibly Melanesian, introducing darker skin than East Asians, somewhat broad noses and crinkly hair. these people to tend live in the Highlands. These people are  most likely descended from a people similar to those of the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean.

Later migrations were of an Asian type giving a population of a Polynesia type with almond shaped eyes and black straight hair.

Of course The Spanish, and I guess the Americans, have contributed to the very marked differences between individual Filipinos and Philippians.

Just to describe my next-door neighbors here in Michigan: Not tall in stature, black hair, light brown to medium brown skin tone,  black eyes that are a little-bit almond shaped, and a reserved but polite disposition.

most filipinos belong to the malay race. so the majority of filipinos have light brown skin. but the philippines is also a melting pot of various countries like the spaniards, chinese, americans, japanese --- there are many filipinos that are pure blood spaniards, chinese and many half-blood as well.. so their appearance is different from the majority of the filipinos.

I'm a Filipino!!! Uhmm... we filipinos are quite small in height, agile, skins vary from brown to white... Since we were colonized in the past we inheirted different lokks and appearances... The REAL APPEARANCE OF A FILIPINO was said to be small, brown skin, a kind of flat nosed, round eyes... But i guess it had changed, we look like a hybrid of different races (laughs)...

Typical Filipinos have black hair, black eyes, brown skin, and petite. However, today, there are a lot of inter-racial marriages for Filipinos so, in todays generation, Filipinos may sometimes look like an American, Chinese, etc....
