What is the physical explanation of the point of a knife?

  1. the point of the knife concentrates all your force onto a minuscule section of the object. this allows the point to do more damage than if that force was spread out.  


  2. Well if the end of the knife was Flat, like a plank of wood and pressed into something the pressure would be spread out across the entire flat peice of wood but i it was a sharp point all the pressure would be condensed to that one point and be able to pierce things.

  3. The pressure equal force divided by air of the surface (P = F/A).

    So the end which makes the pressure must have a very very small air!!
