What is the pitch?

Is it the angle between the blade and boot or the curve of the blade?

  1. It's the angle that the blade is put on the boot, either pitch forward or back...

  2. Do you mean toe pick?

I've never heard of a pitch. But maybe we call it something different here.

  3. I think you might mean the toe pick. It is the sharp part on the front of the blade. You use it for jumps- toe loop, flip, lutz - and you land all of your jumps on your toe pick.  Also, when you spin, you should  be near your toe pick.

When you are just beginning skating, a small toepick is fine, but as you get into the higher levels, like FS 2 and higher, you will need a larger toepick. At about FS 6, you should also get new skates or even just a new blade, because you need a larger toe pick.
