What is the play "42nd Street" about?

I'm going to this show in a couple days, and I just want to know what it's about before I go see it. So could someone please tell me what it's about? Thanks! :)

It is certainly tedious, especially as suggested, for young people, even those with stars in their eyes. Certainly it is nothing like CHICAGO, or in any way related to shows like RENT, Grease, etc.

  I guess I'm most curious about why you ask? Certainly there are VOLUMES of info on the WWW you could research.

The show 42nd street is about a girl, thats all i know, because i fell asleep it was so boring!

It's about a girl who really want sto make it onto Broadway and eventually gets cast as an extra, bu on opening night, she is chosen to stand in for the leading actress because something happened to her and it's happily ever after. It is similar to A Chorus Line.
