  1. Maybe if we could justify our own existence then we would have the right to make judgments about other living creatures. Why does anything exist?

  2. A fly sucks up awful stuff and pukes it out to wet other food to help it eat, it also defecates wherever it lands and its hairy feet can carry millions of bacteria from icky stuff it lands on.  It is a perfect machine to spread bacteria to help dead organic flesh recycle back into the earth.  It also deposits maggots to advance the cause.  Always cover up food on a picnic table (unless you want it to be recycled).

  3. There is no purpose to anythings existence, including trees or even humans.  There are only niches that organisms fill in order to survive.  Flies fill a decomposer niche.

  4. Actually in the process of decomposition flies are one of the first organisms on the scene.  Say for instance out in the middle of the forest a deer dies off for whatever reason, within 5-10 minutes flies have arrived and start laying eggs.  These eggs become maggots within a week at starting eating the deer.  There are however quite a few other organisms that come to help out, but maggots still eat quite a bit of the dead flesh.  For wasps they help with pollination, i.e. no wasps or bees, no alfalfa to feed that cow that became last night's dinner.

  5. Flies, like all organisms, have only one purpose in life. To reproduce and increase their numbers. All organisms have this primary aim.

HOWEVER, to do this they have adopted strategies to increase the chances of this. Flies have adopted the strategy of breeding in huge numbers and feeding on a widely available commodity - detritus, be it excrement, rotting vegetation or rotting meat. The successful flies are the ones that are most adaptable at using the available food or breeding conditions. Any flies that only breed with a dozen eggs or fly slowly or can only eat avocado (for example) will die. This is called natural selection and is the basis of evolution.

The primary purpose of humans is to produce more humans. The primary purpose of tigers is to produce more tigers. And so on with all creatures and plants. How they do it is a whole new ball game!!
