  1. the purpose is to keep you balanced and to keep your feet from turning. its real important to keep your body balaned when you swing. it helps to prevent slices and hooks

  2. Same as any other athletic shoe.  Provides the best traction for the task at hand.

  3. to somewhat help the grass

  4. They keep your feet firm during the swing; you don't want to slip if you can help it.

Of course, with the violent motion, it's tough to do that.

  5. it helps you not slip during your swing to provide more accuracy

  6. Mate, if you need to ask then your obviously not a golfer.

I am not being derogatory but someone who had an actual question about this subject would have phrased it like

"How do golf shoes improve your golf game"

    Not how you phrased it.

I tell you what, try and play a round at my golf course without shoes and you'll soon see what the point is when the Pro kicks your scruffy *** back to the car park.

I hate idiots and their pointless questions.

  7. Try a full swing in wet grass with regular Tennis Shoes on , Then try the same swing with a pair of Golf Shoes the difference will be apparent right away , they keep your feet planted to provide a solid balanced base something that is most important in golf.

  8. For me, golf shoes have been mostly pointless since metal spikes were eliminated.  I sometimes bother putting them on and sometimes dont.  A golf shoe is more supportive and has the soft spikes so they do serve a purpose but not to the degree they did 10 years ago.

  9. it helps with ur balance, but I don't use them every round and still have as much balance as if i had worn my shoes. It doesn't entirely matter if u have them or not its just something that can help a golfer to stabilize his balance.

  10. Grass is slippery. So is the ground as you "push" on it. Worse when it's all uneven. The shoe spikes help keep your feet planted in place. When you consider how small the golf ball and the club head are and how any slight deviations can muck up a shot, I'd say there's a "point in golf shoes."

  11. its good for traction, balence, and a stable grip. without them u might slip or fall or if ur walking in the rough u might step on a golf ball and find a new golf ball.

  12. Its like spikes in baseball.  Yes you can play without them, but with them you have an added advantage.  Another good thing about golf shoes, you do not have to worry about messing up your sneakers, stepping in stuff (like watter hazards to get your ball)

Besides, you can get them cheap.  Modells sells last years footjoys for like 40 bucks.  Thats where I brought mine.  The year before they were 90 at golfsmith and I got them for 25 with a coupon from modells.

  13. balance is VERY important to the golf swing. and the torque/twisting you put on your body to make a swing can make you slip. the spikes on golf shoes help to not slip and throw you off balance.
