What is the point in house flies?

Question

Seriously, what is the point of them? They don't do anything except come into your house and annoy you. Grr!

So can someone come up with a good answer as to why they exist?

This may in fact be the stupidest question I've ever heard.  Creatures don't exist for the sole purpose of satisfying humans.

House flies are found in houses because there is typically food found in houses (Garbage, groceries, bathroom filth, etc).  They are very necessary for a healthy environment. They speed up the decay of dead animals and rotting fruits, and plants by laying their eggs inside so that the larvae can eat to grow.  Think about all the piles of decaying "stuff" you'd smell everywhere without them.

Because of their dirty lifestyle, they are not welcome in houses.  They can spread diseases, and dirty up food.  

There is no point for them being in your house.  But, they are necessary for ecological health.

So, keep flies out of your house while still allowing them to exist on our planet.  Just like everything else ;)

they play a BIG part in decomp, they are one of serveral decomposer, they break down old food, dead bodies of human and animals, small insects and flies as well as millions of micro organisms are part of decomposers. they help break down dead tissues, and old food. without flies the world would be even more junk filled even loosing one of our composer can make a BIG difference.

EDIT: oh I forgot that maggots are even used in medicine they aid to help eat away dead tissues, which are very helpful to a patient with a severe injury as this helps keep infection away.

Every creature no matter how small has a purpose. Insects are the most misunderstood and the most undervalued of all the animals.

We are still understanding & learning from them. Everyday a new species of insect is discovered.

Flies are yet to be fully understood. Scientists are still discovering new facts about them and maggots of some fly species are all ready being used for treating incurable wounds.

Yes, they are pests but they at the same time the most common beneficial things that they do are -

Food for other animals not just other insects but birds and small mammals as well.

Help in pollination.

They help in keeping the environment clean by using the dead flesh as a food and a breeding ground.

I hate those effing flies, but a lot of birds actually feed on them and other animals eat the maggots. Plus maggots are awesome as bait when you go fishing. So I'd say there is some point to flies even if they're a nuisance.

But there's absolutely no reason for ticks to exist.
