  1. Thats just it - there is no point!! lol

  2. Some people are fascinated by birds.  Some people collect stamps.  It's a hobby.  There doesn't need to be a reason. Why do some people love fast cars?? I personally couldn't care less.

I love to fly, and I could easily spend an hour or so at an airport watching the planes, although I would get bored after that.  I have never felt the need to collect aircraft registrations, but each to their own.

It still amazes me how something so huge can pick up a couple of hundred people and dump them over the other side of the world in a matter of hours.

As to what nationals, the UK, US, Spain, Germany and Switzerland are amongst the many countries where it is acceptable to watch aircraft, both socially and in terms of security.  China is another one.  However, some countries get decidedly "twitchy" when people hang around airports, and some countries make it illegal to photograph (even) civil aircraft.

  3. There is as much point to plane spotting as there is to being on Yahoo!Answers.

A plane spotter probably won't understand why you have asked 25 questions and answered 383 questions since January 2008.

There is really no point to either activity, although both are international, it's just something to do as an interest although there are more websites dedicated to plane spotting than to Yahoo!Answers.

I couldn't actually find a similar site for Answers apart from Yahoo!Answers itself.
