What is the point of a 1p/1c coin?

That's why I always make sure I have a penny in the car's ashtray (I don't smoke).

to put in a money bottle then when you have lots you take them to asda and pour them all into the big money machine which then gives you a voucher for your shopping.

The point is that the English pound like the American dollar is divided into 100 equal parts - therefore there must be a coin to represent each of those 100 equal parts.

Strange then, that after all these years, both we the British and the Americans still call our respective smallest coin the penny.

There is also another saying,
