  1. You know when you try to put £10 worth of petrol in your car.....

    That's why I always make sure I have a penny in the car's ashtray (I don't smoke).

  10. The point is that the English pound like the American dollar is divided into 100 equal parts - therefore there must be a coin to represent each of those 100 equal parts.

    Strange then, that after all these years, both we the British and the Americans still call our respective smallest coin the penny.
