What is the point of a street sweeper?

They don't vacuum up the garbage. They just move it around. It just stirs up dust.

  2. Only the broken ones do that. The ones that are working correctly actually pull up trash and loose stones from the road. At the same time they wet down the pavement and help reduce the dust.

  3. When they work properly they pick up debris and garbage at the curb line that otherwise would be flushed down the storm drains during a rain and in some cases get washed out to sea.
