What is the point of an aero dynamic port on a sub woofer box for? What does it do for the sound?

hi gary,

the purpose of an aerodynamic port in a sub enclosure is to eliminate annoying "port turbulence," the low-pitched whistling noise common with conventional cylindrical port tubes. Conventional tubes suffer from nasty turbulence at the entrance and exit of the port, producing unwanted noise and poor sound quality. When you eliminate the distortion turbulence causes, you can turn up your sub volume a lot higher and still get clean sound.

Air displacement for the sub woofer speaker to move effortlessly. It also creates a better bass through resonance.

The purpose of an aeroport in contrast to a conventional round port is to lower the port velocity in turn lowering your port noise ( via more and cleaner output)
