What is the point of hororscopes?

Every day a horoscope pops up on my emails and everyday it is completely wrong.

Did someone invent them as to keep our hopes up ?

Put that email in spam.. I did them already. Horoscope is a prediction of someone's future and I believe God knows them better....

As it is an interpretation is it open to a lot of debate. Some people claim to follow them because they are spiritual-others say they are just gullible.
