  1. It depends on which makeup primer you use.

Smashbox is famous for their primers and it has been voted "Best of Sephora." Smashbox has a line of different primers (blue primer to even out yellow tones, green to minimalize redness, ones with SPF, ones with fragrance, sensitive ones etc.)

Basically what they do it create a blank canvas for your makeup. Your face is completely smoothed out so the makeup will not only glide on smoothly, but stay on. Depending on what kind you use, you will just have a fresh face to work with.

  2. it helps smooth out the skin so your actual foundation  makeup glides on your skin

  3. Primer is used to even out your skin. Some people have large pores and their skin is uneven. Primer is used BEFORE foundation and powder are put on. Primer is very smooth and silky. It basically fills in your pores and smooths your face out before you apply foundation and powder. It also helps make your foundation/makeup stay on your face longer =)

  4. There are skin/foundation primers, eye primers, eyelash primers etc. They smooth the surface on which you'll be putting the makeup on, make it more vibrant and help the makeup stay on longer. I use urban decay primer potion on my eyes and revlon clear lipliner on my lips. It really helps a lot.

  5. it helps bring out the color in the your eye shadows and stay on without creasing; well that's for the eyelid primer.

    hope this helps.

  6. they haf colour correctin properties to even skin tone

nd hide redness also to fill in fine lines to make a smoother

    canvas for ur foundation

  7. Foundation primer is used to both help smooth out your skin before application of a liquid, powder, cream, etc foundation and it also is used to create a barrier between your skin and whatever makeup you will be wearing, which helps to keep the foundation out of your pores. It makes foundation application MUCH easier, and also, depending on your skin type, can help with how your skin ends up looking with make up on. Also helps the longevity of makeup on your face.

It's pretty much the same for eye shadow primers too. Makes the shadow not crease, lasts longer, etc.

And regardless of your skin type, it's advised to use a primer. As long as it's one that is good for your skin type. I tend to avoid ones that are for "all skin types" because they usually don't really help all skin types, such as a NARS one that made my oily skin worse.
