  1. What's the point of studying for a test when you could easily cheat? Life is full of little shortcuts. Writers, poets to be more exact, sometimes take the long way, which is, quoting you, more "enjoyable". It's creative, readable, and an excellent writing exercise. I would rather read perfectly strung-together lines to form vision and imagery, whereas reading someone write, "I am sad. I am heartbroken.", in a diary would be... well, not as interesting. Wouldn't you rather read, "My heart splits to pieces as the rolling tears tremble, falling down my face," or "I am sad." So, just understand that in a world of technology and speed, poems help us slow down for a little bit, even if it's just a couple minutes.

  2. You said it in a word, "enjoyment"

  3. Enjoyment is the point like you just said

  4. TO: ME ME ME

Poetry is a type of communication. Humans have a need to express themselves and others enjoy reading thoughts by others that are similar to their own thoughts (OR NOT).

    very often it is.

    Writing poetry is a talent

    along with an art

    Whatever you write about

It needs to come from your heart

    There are different ways to

    write poetry

Poetry can or doesn't have to rhyme

    no one can dictate that

If you enjoy that type of poetry

    then stay with it.

Only you can make that decision.

  6. Sometimes its just that poetry is a more beautiful form of expressing oneself.

  7. Creativity my friend, it's like a musician composing a beautiful song with a memorable melody, so a poet composes a beautiful poem with memorable lines.

It's art, the whole process of writing a creative poem and evoking emotion from the reader is a beautiful thing.

It's all about your soul and what you feel when you write, what you can relate to when you read the words.

  8. Please define normal writing.....Someone please !!!!

  9. Sometimes you can be more indirect with your feelings when you put them in a poem, but you can still write about, or it makes it more personal to put them in a poem. In the long run people will write in the style they like, and thats the important part.

  14. The main point of poetry is to decorate an instance or a feeling by rhythmic words with rhyming sense. Poetry is of mainly two types, One is direct using usual words and second one is channelised the words by hiding the instance like fruit behind the leaves. Now a days most of lovers creating good poetry than scholars,,,!

  15. what's the point of painting when you can more easily take a photograph of whatever you are trying to depict? or what's the point of learning to play an instrument when you already sing or play a different one?

poetry is just another way of recording and sharing your thoughts and the sensations that you've experienced. It's a perfect method of communicating some ideas and stories that would be lost in prose. You can use stanzas and parallelism to show two very different types of things to be similar without comparing them. You can use line breaks to allow a reader to create suspense in simple things. You can use rhyme and meter to create rhythm and energy that doesn't exist in prose. You can shift the focus off of the story or scene and onto the way that you tell the story or set up the scene. And these are just a few of the characteristics and devices of poetry that allow you to create an entirely different idea than you would construct from prose. All told, there is, in poetry, an ability to say in a few words something that could take many pages of prose to express, and the unique constructions of phrases that most poems use make them much more memorable than prose.
