What is the point of registering your laptop? ?

I have my hp laptop for almost 4 years and I have never registered it at all. What is the point of having to register you laptop at hp.com? Is there any benefits of some sort or something? Is there any point in which I should register now since my computer is like 4 years now?

Yes, they usually verify date of purchase and some warranties for the software provided requires it. It also gets you on their mailing list for junk ;)
