  1. I was a sociology major in college and we were told the point of sociology is social change.

We were told to think about the questions that we asked and the answers that would develop from them before we conduct any research. Research that would promote positive social change should be done and publicized. Research that would not promote positive social change should not be done.  If it is done and the results don't promote what should be promoted, the results should discarded.

Social change is a code word for expanding what we get from the government: health care, housing, jobs, security, etc.  Of course, there is a Marxist ideology underlying all of it.

In short, sociology is politics pretending to be a science.

  2. explained our groups, cultures,

the reasons behind individuals beliefs or judgments and expectations

gives us insight into people why they do things, how they will react, what will happen after that

obviously as the study of peopel and society it all revolves around that kind of thing

we now know much more about the past, bu looking at its society's, finding out about its societys, that ther WERE societys

that animals too have 'society's'  hierarchies etc

and that htey play avital role in theirs, and ours, lives , futures, develpoments and communication
