What is the point of some songs in Cabaret?

I LOVE the musical, but I'm confused about why "Two Ladies", "Tomorrow Belongs to Me", "I Don't Care Much", and "Don't Tell Mama" are in there. Can anyone give me some meaning to them or tell me what they symbolize?

remember, this is supposed to take place at the beginning of Hitler's reign.  Tomorrow belongs to me is about the youth being in charge of the world in the future.  some are just songs that were popular at that time or for entertainment that would/could be sung in a cabaret in that place and time.
