what is the point of volunteer when people just do it because they want to go to university, award and those reasons.

If u volunteer because you want something, is it really a volunteer?

Look at high school, i see no one who actually does it for others.

  1. I did...and it wasnt for college...I actually enjoyed it

  2. I'm 30 and I volunteer my time to give myself a feeling that I am doing something nice for other people. There are those of us out there who are not doing good to get into Harvard!

  3. I have done volunteer work and did it because I had a lot of spare time on my hands and wanted to do something for the good of others not for my self. Doing volunteer work is a totally unselfish gesture and people think highly of you for doing it.

  4. I'm currently on disability for depression and I've been volunteering the past year a couple days a week in a local hospital because I want to get back into the working world and volunteering was a first step, where it wasn't a real job, but it was a start.  Also, because it got me out of the house and around people....which has helped my depression.  I have too much time on my hands right now and I want to do something useful with my time until I can get back to work!
