What is the point of yahoo groups?

i joined one because i had an invite, but i dont really know the point of groups

depends on the group- some groups have no point while other's are very useful

Our group shares a common health problem, and the group communication is an easy way to follow up on actions and events that occur in monthly support group meetings.  It provides an easy link to our website where current information is posted, and we use the calendar to record future events.  It is a forum where test results and new treatment options can be shared with the group without having to raise your hand.  It is a good place to ask others about their experiences when starting new drug treatment options, so you can be prepared for the results.
