  1. the media is so far to the left.anyone with brains just ignores most of it.

  2. Media is the medium through which politics occurs. Its role is as a conductor, "conductor" being used in the same sense as that which applies to, for instance, a copper wire that conducts electricity. In an ideal world, that's -all- that media does in the political realm. Of course, individual reporters often can't or won't try to keep their coverage politically neutral, but some of them, at least, appear to try.

  3. The U.S. Constitution does not address the political role of any media. Free speech is addressed; but, I have that right without being a member of any "media".

The "role" of the "media" has only been defined by the "media", based upon how they interpret the Constitution.

The "media" has taken no "political" stance; they stand for or against whoever will give them the most coverage.

  4. have you ever heard of the jefferson theory? he actually said media serves as the fourth branch of government. it acts as a checks  and balance for the other three. now this is just figuratively speaking, but in a sense it does.

  5. The answer depends on the type of media being discussed.

Advertising and entertainment media are vastly different from the news media in their roles in politics.  Infotainment programs -- like political talk shows -- are a form of entertainment media blended with news.

The political role of the news media is to report on actions of elected officials and to place local, national, and international problems on the public agenda.  This would include, of course, reports on responsible individuals and organizations opposed to government actions.

In the news media, news reports are much different from news features, opinion columns or editorials.

Access to the news media is crucial to politicans trying to gain public support and votes.

Hope this answer helps you, Cynthia.
