  1. Global Warming is a farce, a theory from Al Gore...and why did he get an award for our climate going through a cycle?  People need to get a clue.

  2. Al Gore needs More money for gas for his private jet.

  3. Some far right extremists claim it's a hoax, often attributing it to "socialists" or Al Gore.  Serious conservatives know better.

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) 'It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air.  We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

"I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

  4. The "right" is using it to scare people into thinking all their gas-guzzlers and coal fired power plants will be taken away, which will destroy the "American" way of life. Just like they did with terrorism and Iraq.

  5. I was surprised to hear recently that global warming isn't much of an issue politically yet.  For example, it's reportedly not in the top 10 list for Presidential candidates.

On the other hand certain political figures are activley taking part in influencing the public.  Senator Inhofe for example, who has accepted over $500,000 in campaign contributions from the oil & gas and coal industries, has issued some questionable information.  He's also the one who has proposed weakening the Clean Air Act with "Clear Skies":

    - Allows 42 million more tons of pollution emitted than the EPA proposal.

    - Weakens controls on mercury pollution levels compared to what would be achieved by enforcing the Clean Air Act stringently.

    - Weakens the current cap on nitrogen oxide pollution levels from 1.25 million tons to 2.1 million tons, allowing 68 % more NOx pollution.

    - Delays the improvement of sulfur dioxide (SO2) pollution levels compared to the Clean Air Act requirements.

    - Delays enforcement of smog-and-soot pollution standards until 2015.

Fortunately there are politicians on both sides of the aisle who take the high road, have evaluated the science, and understand that something must be done.

  6. Socialism it would seem.
