  1. the poorest province of Vietnam is thanh hoa , where theres a half of the folks that go to big cities workin' as beggars, maids... some even sold to taiwan & korea  in the women trafficking rings.

  2. Eventhough the whole country is relatively poor, but poverty and wealth are not equally distributed.  Like China,  the average monthly income of typical workers in big cities are three to four times higher than in rural areas.  Average incomes in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are compatable with cities like Bangkok, Shanghai, Manila, Mumbai and slightly higher than Jarkata.   Therefore the living standard in cities are similar to other cities in Asia but much poorer in rural areas.  Most of the poorer provinces are in the highlands, southernmost, or northernmost parts of Vietnam since these provinces are so remote and mostly are ethnic minorities who don't speak Vietnamese.  In other word, they want to be isolated and keep their traditional way of living.  But people who live below the poverty level were reduce to 18 percent which is much less than in India, Indonesia, Mexico, or the Phillippines.   Their goal is to reduce to less than 10 percent in 5-10 years.  In general, Vietnam is still a poor country, but their living standard have improved over the years and will improve in years to come.

  3. Actually, the whole Vietnam is a poor country. So it's not that surprising to know that there are a lot of poor provinces in there that needs assistance.  Though it's continually regaining its lost due to the World War 2. We can now see that it's continually developing (as being listed to the Next Eleven- having a promising outlooks for investment and future growth).
