Question:

What is the potential difference across AB?

I don't have an equation, and im not sure how to solve the problem. Please help.

  1. Total resistance is the sum of the two because they are in series. So R(total) = 1000 ohms

    The current flowing comes from Ohm's Law

    I = V/R = 50/1000 = 5/100 = 1/20 = 0.05 amperes

    Now use Ohms Law across AB

    V = RI = 600 x (0.05)= 30 volts
