  1. They are not related.  The decrease in songbirds ~ increase in house cats.  Twenty five years ago, house cats, just in America, killed 4 million song birds a day.  House cats have doubled since, figure it out.

  2. Perhaps the rising demand for coffee, due to its popularity, is resulting in bird habitat being destroyed to produce coffee crops.

  3. Hunters and shooters are drinking more coffee therefore staying awake longer resulting in the deaths of the migrating songbird. A sure fire way to stop this would be to outlaw thermos flasks.

  4. Trees are clear cut to make way for coffee plantations.  Birds use trees to seek shelter/roost, nest in and for food (insects/nectar).  Without trees means death to the birds.  That is why it is suggested you should buy "shade grown" coffee instead to help preserve bird habitat.  The trees are left for the birds to live in, and the coffee is grown under them. 5. potential relationships are not known, simply places to look.

    1) coffee poisons the songbirds

    2) coffee plantations decrease habitat

    3) Coffee plantations make good habitat for predators of songbirds
