What is the premise for the show "gossip girl"?

to me it looks like the stupidest show ever made, what exactly is the premise? it looks so boring and that its just some high school drama. i dont understand the big deal, ive tried to watch it but i can't sit through it.

also..blake lively's face needs to be punched in. it bothers me to no end.

The best I can figure is, "We are rich and beautiful and in high school, and we all sleep with each other's boyfriends and stir up drama." But then, I can't sit through it either without wanting to punch somebody.

Hey honestly I thought the same exact thing but the moment my friend forced me to watch 2 episode i was hooked--just give it a chance..watch 2 episodes

Its about a group of best friends who live in the Upper-East side of Manhattan. It goes a bit deeper than just superficial high school drama, broaching topics such as, eating disorders, suicide, murder, being g*y, and family troubles. Its actually a good show, you just have to watch it with an open mind.
