What is the present and future role of gold and the US Dollar in the international monetary system?

  1. The US Dollar is a fiat currency, and is undergoing galloping inflation as a result of irresponsible government spending.  In addition. it has been widely used all over the world as a reserve currency.  There are at conservative estimates over a trillion US dollars outside the US.

    At some point the holders of those inflating dollars will decide they don't want to hold them anymore.  When they decide to get rid of them, the dollar will reach for parity with the Zimbabwe Dollar.

    Gold retains value during times of inflation.  I expect that gold prices will rise substantially as people trade their dollars for gold.
