What is the present status of Bangalore new international airport? What is the commuting/ traffic situation?

If the old Airport is not operating, when is the new airport opening? Is the traffic to city smooth? What is the arrangement for travel to Old Airport area?

BIA will  open at 12.01 am on May 24.

All flights landing and departing after 12.01 am on May 24 will operate from BIA. A flight terminating in Bangalore just before 11.59 pm on May 23 will do so at HAL airport. However, for a flight making a stopover here — and then taking off for a further destination — it will be BIA.

Bangaluru new airport is opening today May 23, 2008 midnight IST (ie.. the begining of May 24, 2008). Today both the airports will have local transports upto midnight. The Bengaluru inernational airport was supposed to be opened on 23rd but now postponed to 24th May 2008. According to the contract between central govt, Karnataka Govt of which Bangalore is the capital, and the investors, the old aiport is to be closed down. There are enough arrangements made for commuting to Bangalore city. Special buses are available. But you need to pay. Once you enter the city, there may be some traffic problems. Read more at:
