Question:

What is the price of a pack of cigarettes in Niagara Falls, Canada?

I'm going on vacation to Niagara Falls (the Canadian side) next week, and was wondering if I'd be better off buying a carton here (I live in NYC so cigarettes are roughly $8.50 a pack). Can someone please tell me the price of cigarettes (I smoke marlboro ultra lights) up there? I know prices are usually jacked up in tourist areas, but I have no idea how expensive they are up there. Please, if you can, let me know how much they cost in USD. Thanks for the help!

  1. They are $10 a pack and higher around the Falls area. If you are interested in cheap cigarettes-Irving/Silver Creek exit on route 90  about 30 miles west of Buffalo is the northern tip of the Seneca Nation. There are a lot of native cigarette dealers in Irving. A carton of Seneca lights-similar to Marlboro lights is around $14. I always stop on the way home from Niagara Falls and buy cigarettes for everyone I know that smokes. I wouldn't buy before going to Canada as they limit you to 1 carton crossing the border. I've listed a link only as an example.

  2. An average pack of Canadian smokes is around $8-$10, so they're pretty much in line with what you are paying now ($CDN = $US right now). You should be able to find some Marlie's as well (imported so slightly more expensive). But I also agree with Crispin--buy at the Duty Free Shop before you cross the border--they have both American and Canadian brands, and they have killer deals on cigs and beer. (2 for 1's, buy 2 get one free etc.) And your wife will love all the purses and cosmetics

  3. I would buy them in NY. I worked for a cigarette company and I can say not only are they more here(about $10.50 or so you will pay especially being the falls it will be higher)Also Marlboro is not allowed to be sold on Canadian shelves, It has to do with a copyright law.

Here in Canada there is already a cigarette called Marlboro. It is in all yellow packaging, but has nothing to do with the US one nor is the taste and flavour smilier.

Here in Canada we have implemented new laws that have recently come into effect. Such as..

1, All cigarette including any rolling papers, matches with tobacco logos must be covered and not visible to the customer.

    2. The customer must know what they are purchasing before you can take it out from the back display where they are hidden.

(They are working on a binder so you can flip through it lol)

3.Any tobacco product cannot be placed on the counter until the customer has paid and is ready to leave your store.

    4. Retailers are not even allowed to fill an empty spot until they are closed or making sure nobody is in the store.

The list goes on and on lol

These new laws have come into effect May31,2008

Like I said your best to just get them there and avoid the hassles and running around.

¨P.S  I hope you enjoy your vacation!

You will like the falls :-)

  4. 9$ and up

  5. Just buy in NY and be happy.
