I'm planning to travel to Mexico in about two weeks and I would really want to know what I'm expecting to pay there. Any help would be great!!!! If anyone knows of a site on the internet where I can get that info would also help for future use!

  1. it may depends , where are you going?

Mexico City is 2.75 us dlls , In the border may be not the same price but one thing is for sure, is cheaper than in the States

  2. $3.90

  3. Its 7.80 pesos per liter times 3.8 liters to the gallon, 10.50 pesos to the dollar.

It works out to around $3.00 US per gallon. Because the gasoline and petroleum industries are controlled by the government the prices are much more stable down here. But this means that previously they were much higher than in the US. The person who says that historically Mexican prices are lower is just flat out wrong! Some time ago when the US was paying around $1.75 (for Mexican gasoline!), Mexicans were paying $2.75! Now that you are paying $4.00 we are still paying only around $3.00. So now is the perfect time to drive to Mexico for a visit, our price increases are fixed during the yearly government budgets so there is little danger that they will suddenly skyrocket as in the US.

There is no real website with much info on gas prices in English, but you can find the Pemex stations everywhere on major highways and the prices are the same everywhere across the country. It is always best to stop at a station which is very busy because some stations "cheat" and will short the customer. These often have some of their pumps closed and sealed by the government inspectors, avoid these at all costs. The locals know which are the honest stations and which are cheaters. Therefore a full station equals "honest station" and empty station often means "dishonest station."

(Same principle when you are looking for a good place to eat in Mexico!)

Oh, and if you get down to the central part of Mexico keep your eyes peeled for franchises of the "Italian Coffee Company" which are springing up at highway gas stations everywhere. It is as good as Starbucks, quality, decor selection etc. at almost HALF the cost, just what the Doctor ordered for those long drives! (Despite the name the "Italian Coffee Company" originated in Puebla Mexico, and is 100% Mexican owned and operated, now has over 300 franchises in the central part of Mexico!)

  4. Historically it has been just a little lower than US prices. Mexico actually has huge oil reserves and recently a third of their government revenues came from oil. The last figure I saw was in the $3 something range.

  5. I'm not sure of the exact price but I'm pretty sure it's under $3/gallon

  6. Im not sure of the exact amount but it is between 2.60 and 3.00 a gallon...........

It took roughly $45 to fill up my car in the U.S. and about $32. here.........
