  1. Officially, inflation is running about 4.5%, but we have seen food prices start to rise a lot more than that. As for education, it is in name only. I read somewhere recently that the largest source of corruption in Mexico is not the police or anything close to it, it is the education system. Teachers demanding "voluntary cooperation" from parents for so called free schools. $20 here, $20 there or little Johnny just doesn´t seem to get the marks he deserves...

  2. Government just today announced price freezes on 150 common use items until the end of the year.  Gasoline increases at 2 cents per liter per month.  The educational system has been ruined by the teachers union - run by a horrible woman (Elba Esther Gordillo) who has houses in San Diego and shops at Neiman-Marcus while the educational system in Mexico goes down the dumps.

Northern states, in general, have a better standard than the rest of the country.  Private is usually better than public, though there are exceptions, like in everything else in life

Rents along the border mimic rents across the border.

  3. I dont know what you mean by " price stability "? Intresting custom here is on January 1 all merchants hike prices for inflation or fun I guess. Other country its changed at will but here for some reason they all do it Jan 1.

Education - A complete failed system. Private schools are far better ! Northern states in Mexico are better in that regards and is quite obvious in day to day living. Come down south like my city Acapulco and it will ( education) hit you right beteewn the eyes. Not the smartest bunch lets say.
