Admission to Navy Pier is free; however, food items and most other on-site attractions will cost you dearly. I enjoy the lake views from the end of the pier, and those are free, of course. Otherwise, my opinion is that the pier is a tourist trap.

Another nice thing about Navy Pier: The Shakespeare Theater. Of course, tickets are typically not cheap, but they're most definitely worth it!

the one in chicago? i think it's free...if you're asking about the rides and carousel then i think depends on the price of the ride itself. there are boat rides as well. there is this awesome place that sells you magic tricks and will show one for free...and eat at bubba gump seafood they play the movie forrest gump all day long and the waitstaff will quiz you on the movie. tons of places to shop too.
