  1. 12A

  2. with a transformer, when a coil has the lower number of turns, it carries the higer amount of current.

    the ratio of the secondary current to the primary current is equal to the inverse of the turns ratio (secondary # of turns/ primary # of turns)

    Ip= primary current

    Is= secondary current

    #p= primary # of turns

    #s= secondary # of turns

    Ip/Is=#s/#p

    Ip/3=2000/500

    Ip/3=4

    Ip=12

    the primary current = 12 A
